It Takes Teamwork!

This morning was we were getting ready to head out with Her Ladyship, the neighbour across the way backed up the driveway. I had texted him to say that I had his coat repaired and as he was just heading out to the woodlot, he came over first to get it. He had his dog, Kaiser, in the truck, and Jade was so excited to see a friend that we let him out for a visit. Unfortunately, he was so excited too....he went off into the bush to sniff. SW and the neighbour headed in one direction on the paths, while I circled around in the other direction. We were eventually able to "corral" him. IT TAKES TEAMWORK to catch an excited dog and get him back in the truck.

After our walk, himself and I did the firewood routine. IT TAKES TEAMWORK to fill the upper and lower bins, and restock the drying rack downstairs. Well....at least it's much easier, and less messier (wet boots on the floor) if we work together :)

The next focus was to work on solving this problem!

I LOVE my armchair! It's very comfortable on my tailbone (which gets quite sore from most chairs), and I love being able to sit back in comfort when hand-stitching, or just gazing out the window letting my mind wander. The problem is, it's not quite high enough to be comfortable for machine sewing. The boards under the legs were giving me the height I needed, but it was VERY challenging to move the chair. In fact, I generally sat on the edge of the seat so that I wouldn't have to move the chair back to get out.

SW and I worked together to make "boots" for the chair. I measured and made cuts, and he joined the pieces together.

We then attached casters to the bottoms, but they did not work. The boot would have had to have been a tight fit to the legs of the chair. As it was, the boots just tipped sideways :(

The final solution was to add two layers of wood under the boot....in order to get the height I wanted. We put felt pads on the bottom so that i could slide the chair back and forth without damaging the floor, and then put them under the chair legs. They work amazingly!!! I am able to pull up tight for sewing...sitting further back on the chair..., and to push back when I need to go to the cutting board or ironing table. IT TAKES TEAMWORK...and two brains for problem-solving...to modify my armchair. Now I can continue to work IN COMFORT on those placemats! More on them tomorrow :)

Later this afternoon, SW took the door off the pantry cupboard in order to paint it. Now, the cupboard is sitting wide open, taunting me to get in there and get it reorganized.

I guess IT TAKES TEAMWORK to get the pantry back in order (SW painting...me reorganizing). But right now it's Jeopardy!

And on that note, I wish you all a very good night!
